As much as Tufts can drive me crazy, I do actually read the Tufts E-news email that I get every so often. Usually it is a bunch of back patting drivel but I read it mainly to catch the stories about the work of my peers--it does pop up every so often. Tonight I see that former Harvard President Larry Summers is the speaker at an endowed Tufts lecture (which in itself is backwards since doesn't Harvard have the largest academic endowment of the world and you know Tufts is paying him a nice 'honorarium'). What is more disturbing to me is that the purpose of this lecture is to showcase speakers who have "challenged conventional wisdom in their professional work"...and the best they came up with was Summers? A guy who thinks women don't have the "right" hard wiring to do science and math as well as men. All I have to say is WTF.
